San Francisco, CA – July 27, 2020 – Chris DeNike from Corcoran Global Living’s Marin County office was recently recognized as one of “the coolest community partners” by a local nonprofit organization, Bread & Roses. Bread & Roses is a program whose mission is to offer hope, healing and joy through music and the performing arts to children, adults and seniors who are disadvantaged, marginalized or isolated.
Founded in 1974 by Mimi Fariña, she choose the name of the organization based on a 1912 poem by James Oeppenheim. Fariña embraced the power of music and the arts for those facing challenges. The organization is now in its fifth decade with more than 1,000 performers, hosts and volunteers. They present over 625 shows and performances each year, reaching more than 36,000 audience members.
In its recent newsletter, Chris DeNike was acknowledged for his work with the group. DeNike, a music lover himself, first heard of Bread & Roses when he passed their awning while walking his dog. Once he learned of their mission, he quickly committed to supporting them by pledging a percentage of his sales to this worthy organization.
